Our Story

Millie’s House is a privately owned company operated by Childcare & Learning (NZ) Limited and operated by a highly capable team of regional and centre managers.

We opened our first Millie’s House Early Learning Centre in 2014 at 5 Daly Street, Lower Hutt. This centre thrived for 11 years before it was closed through compulsory acquisition of the Hutt City Council to make way for the Riverside Project. However, in these 11 years the confidence and influence of the success of Daly Street allowed us to grow seven more Millie’s House centres, which we are proud to operate.

A few years back, we held an organisation wide consultation with our kaiako and leaders to find out why we were here and what was most important to us; as an education and care provider for our tamariki, service provider for parents and whānau, and as a workplace. Our consultation came up with five clear values resounding across the group, and the one that came through most strongly was relationships. It is our relationships that we believe welcomes and retains our staff and our whānau and has allowed us to grow and become a Millie’s House family of seven centres.

It is also the value in relationships that ensure the spirit of Millie’s House is genuine, open and engaging across all levels of involvement.

Our seven centres in the Hutt Valley, Wellinton and Christchurch are all held together by our company Kaupapa and Values.
